Registration this year will open at 7:00 am on the Sunday for Pre-Con Attendees and 10:00 am for all attendees.

Do not forget to bring your government issued ID with you!

Note:  If you bring a bag to registration, you will leave with two bags, as at registration you will receive an attendee bag which will contain a water bottle, notebook, pen, attendee shirt, name badge and lanyard.  Often in the bag is your ticket or wristband for access to the Closing Attendee Party – don’t throw it away as  doing this can cause “a whole heap of pain”.

tech-ed North America 2010 (New Orleans) – I’ll be there, will you?

I was pleased to receive an email earlier this week stating that I had been selected to work in the Technical Learning Center (TLC) on the Security, Identity & Access Track. I have attended tech-ed many times before, but this will be the first one that I am actually working and I am really looking forward to it.

If you would like to meet up for chat or just want to say hello then feel free to mail me or send me a tweet, if you have any specific questions that you would like answered then please let me know and I will do my upmost to have an answer for you when you get there .

This years tech-ed looks like it will be one of the best so I would strongly urge you to register now to avoid disappointment.

I have also noticed that during the week, Microsoft will be co-hosting with tech-ed the Business Intelligence Conference 2010 – this conference focuses on Microsoft’s Business Intelligence applications and how Microsoft can help you design, build and deploy robust Business Intelligence applications for everyone in your organization while controlling costs.

It is the single best place to get the latest business strategy, product information, implementation best practices, customer insights and expert guidance relating to Microsoft Business Intelligence products.

TechED North America 2010 $200 Discounts.

I am always on the look out for a bargain and if you are still considering attending TechED North America or you have just not got around to registering, unfortunately you are too late for the $200 early bird discount, as this offer expired on the 28th February.

But there is another way of getting $200 off the cost of registration – If you are an MCP, check the “March 2010 MCP Flash” as there is a discount code in the newsletter – the newsletter specifically states “Please don’t share this code with others“. – hence that’s why it is not in the post.

Attending TechED North America or Europe on your own for the first time?

I have been back from the MVP 2010 Summit now for a couple of days and I think I am nearly over my jet leg.

On Monday 15th, I was asked to record a video for TechED North America and TechED Europe, this was great fun – I am not sure if the content will make it passed the edit room floor, but it was a great experience that I have learned a great deal from it.  Tuesday – Friday was spent interacting with the product groups and listening to the corporate ideals, all genuinely very interesting.

The first part of MVP Summit week reminded me of when I first started attending TechED in the late 90’s – I knew very few people in attendance if any and if I wanted to have a good time and speak to someone more that the breakfast waiter then I was going to have to “make an effort” to interact. So I did – I put a few tweets out and found out where everyone was socialising and I made friends, some from the UK that I had met once or twice and some from further afield such as Holland, Singapore and Bolivia.  This turned out to be my best move of the week –  so if you are thinking of attending TechED North America or Europe on your own, with a little bit of effort you will not be for long,  you can get to meet a lot of likeminded people with whom the next time you attend a TechED you will get to socialise with them – as a friend.  So I might see you in Berlin or perhaps even New Orleans.

Twitter Me on @markparris and we can have a beer or a glass of wine.

I’d also recommend the magazine parties…one of our customers has us collect the invites at the booth for him since the magazines all want me to advertise with them. These are fun and free. Since you’re not their target market you won’t get sold to either!
